Sedation Dentistry Options

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide allows children to feel more relaxed and calm for dental treatment. This treatment is very safe and effective. It is non-addictive. It is mild, easily taken, and then quickly eliminated by the body. Nitrous oxide is quick acting and wears off completely after a few minutes of giving the child normal oxygen air at the end of the procedure.

For some children, nitrous oxide alone is not effective, especially those who have severe anxiety, nasal congestion, extensive treatment needs, or discomfort wearing a nasal mask. Our doctor has comprehensive specialty training and can offer other sedation methods that may be right for your child.

In-Office Sedation

We offer a deepened sedation option for the completion of dental treatment within the comfort of our dental office. A level of deep sedation is provided by a Board-Certified Pediatric Anesthesiologist while utilizing patient monitoring equipment to allow us to complete dental treatment safely, quickly and comfortably for your child. You can find out additional information here.

General Anesthesia

If dental treatment cannot be safely performed in our dental office, it may be necessary to complete treatment under general anesthesia at a local hospital. This is completed using a team approach between the dental and hospital teams. General anesthesia is administered by an anesthesiologist while the dentist provides the dental care.
