Removing decay and placing a filling in a tooth sounds like a simple process but there are many facets that must be taken into consideration.

Several factors influence the performance, durability, longevity, and expense of dental restorations, including:

  • The components used in the filling material
  • The amount of remaining tooth structure
  • Where and how the filling is placed
  • The chewing load the tooth will have to bear

In our office, we use the white tooth-colored (composite) fillings to restore both anterior and posterior teeth. If the decay is extensive, a silver stainless steel crown may be required on molars.

Before your child’s treatment begins, Dr. Verhagen will discuss all options and help you choose the best filling for your son or daughter’s particular case.
